If you are after the most authentic sauna experience, then a wood burning heater will be your best bet. They are very cheap and they are very sustainable in the long run. You just have to buy some wood to burn and you will not have a problem running this in your sauna.

One downside to this type of heater is that it is very hard to get the exact temperature that you want, especially in the beginning. Once you get used to it though, it will get easier.
